Inveterate southern Stockholmers have pilgrimaged to Billström’s Cafe since as early as 1943.  But now this classic has received a real face lift, and provides a modern and exciting café environment in the heart of Södermalm.  Old regulars mingle with a younger, more trendy clientele.  The selection covers a wide field.  The bakery provides Billström’s tasty mazarines (small cakes made of almond paste), chocolate biscuits, cookies, princess gaetaus (marzipan-covered gateaus) and sumptuous bread … But on a late afternoon approaching evening, we ignore the coffee and instead have a glass of wine, and eat tapas, a real main course dish or have a pizza take away .  Cafés, now a days, may comprise most of what patrons are yearning for.
